Put your concerns at ease
You do not need a referral and can contact Connecting Dots Counselling directly for an appointment. Here at Connecting Dots Counselling, as a private practice, I am unable to offer Medicare rebates at this stage, as counsellors in Australia cannot currently provide services under Medicare.
|
Mental Health plans are provided so that some may be able to access a mental health service.
You do not need a Mental Health Plan to access services at Connecting Dots Counselling. You can contact this practice directly without going to your GP, however if you require a Mental Health Plan, please contact your GP. |
As a Registered Counsellor, I am unable to give you a diagnosis. If you need a diagnosis then please contact a psychologist. If at any stage in a counselling session you feel you would like a diagnosis, I will, with your permission, make a referral.

The first counselling session is about getting to know you, making sure you are safe and checking in on what might have brought you to counselling at this particular time. Together we will determine how I might be able to support you. We will also learn a bit about the policies and confidentiality and give you an opportunity to address any questions you might have.
Following sessions will provide you with a safe space to explore your concerns as well as the opportunity to identify your desired outcomes for counselling. We will then develop a plan unique to you, to help you begin to take steps towards your goals and desired outcome. |
As Counsellors, and as an Australian Counselling Association member, we are bound by strict ethics and codes of conduct and acknowledge that confidentiality and trust are the foundations of every therapeutic relationship.
Everything that you discuss with me, your counsellor at Connecting Dots Counselling. will remain private and confidential. There are only a few circumstances where I will be required to break confidentiality, however I will always discuss this with you first. Only in the most exceptional circumstances would I break confidentiality, without your prior knowledge and consent. For situations which are not deemed exceptional written consent by you, the client, will always be obtained before Connecting Dots Counselling can disclose any matters with another person (e.g. GP, specialists, school counsellors). |
For some clients, Face to Face Counselling, may not be their preferred choice of service for various reasons. It is for this reason, that Connecting Dots Counselling offers Online and Telephone Counselling.
Some have found that Online or Telephone Counselling saves time, offers options for those suffering from anxiety and is easier from the comfort of their own home or they just prefer engaging online. |
