Conversation, Creativity and Connecting Space
Are you someone who sees the glass half full rather than glass half empty. Or do you perhaps default to the negative.
What if you could retrain your brain to start seeing that glass half full instead? Anyone up for an experiment? Choose to seek something specific out, every day? For instance, when I go on walks in my local park, I seek out the awesome Willy Wag bird. I noticed one in the park one day, then noticed another the next time. I found myself smiling so I decided to seek the bird out with each walk I did. Over time I created meaning for myself relating to the bird, that bird suddenly held significance for me. Having now done this for quite some time, I immediately smile when I hear one chirping away, it is almost like my brain is so in tune with the nature around me that it is permanently on the 'look out' and it just makes me feel happy. In essence I have trained my brain to ‘respond’ in a happy/joyful way when hearing or seeing the bird. So just imagine what would happen, if you made a decision and persevered, to seek out what it is you want to see in your daily routine. Maybe for you, it is seeking out moments of humour or moments of courage or moments of connection. Now, also imagine that over time you have exercised your brain just enough, so that it starts to seek these moments out with no effort at all. If you wanted to see more of something in your life that was meaningful and had significance to you, what would it be? “Repetition takes time, but it builds behaviors with fewer side effects. If you expose yourself to something over and over, it can “grow on you.” You can get to like things that are good for you, even if you don’t like them instantly. But who wants to repeat something over and over if it doesn’t feel good? Usually, people don’t, which is why we tend to rely on the circuits built by accidents of experience. You will be shaped by accident unless you start repeating things by choice.” Quote by: ― Loretta Graziano Breuning, Meet Your Happy Chemicals: Dopamine, Endorphin, Oxytocin, Serotonin Email if you would like to know a little more about how we can work together to make your desired change.
