Conversation, Creativity and Connecting Space
Reflection for some does not come easy and you may find reflecting on things or self-reflecting, a difficult thing to put into practice.
Did you know that writing down a thought or two can help improve our understanding of what is important to us and what our values are. That being said, what if you started small with reflecting on your day, your week, before answering the next question. If you were to reflect on the year 2022, what would you find? Nothing? No achievements at all? A few but not really significant? Well that all depends on what you believe to be true about what achievement looks like. For instance: Did you take care of your family during the pandemic? Did you love someone, show kindness to someone? Did you get the kids off to school most days? Did you go to work? Did you put food on the table? Did you connect with others? Did you manage to get out and go for that walk or run? Did you have that difficult conversation with somebody that you needed to? Did you put one foot in front of the other and move forward? Did you change the world? Maybe not, but you achieved to some degree nonetheless and changed a part of YOUR world. In a sense you are training your brain to look at what successes you have had in 2022 and I am sure you would be surprised at what you find. So, what would you like to continue to achieve in 2023 and which strengths do you want to continue to build on that you have now identified? Perhaps 2023 you will notice even more. Hello all. Perhaps this is for you......... For me, it is that time of year when so much needs to be organised, loose ends tied up, plans made and so on and so on...... so I have put a little source of information together for anyone who may be feeling like they have a lot on their plate at the moment and just need to know where to begin, to get through it in one piece.
Hello all
I thought I would share with you, a little about my journey so far. For many years, I have 'thought' about counselling and every year I decided not to follow that thought for various reasons (excuses). One year in particular, I was struggling to find moments to connect with myself, getting drawn in by all the distractions around me and as a result, things I had enjoyed in the past, just did not bring me the same joy anymore. I felt restless. There was a day I remember well, when I just sat.... sat in a place special to me (surrounded by plants and with a sea view) and just stared out the window. Time ticked by and before I knew it, it felt like I had had a thousand thoughts flash through my mind. I am not sure what made me get up, but I did, and I grabbed a blank book and a pen. Here, in this moment was where my journey evolved, because on this page, I proceeded to write/draw/scribble about what matters to me. Then I got creative (highlighter, different colour pens...) and in doing so, quickly filled many pages as one thought led to another. When you put these onto paper as a physical act, you help that thought become a vision that you can grab onto, which then has the potential to become a reality because of the excitement generated and effort you want to put in to make it become YOUR reality. This creates an awareness, is meaningful, motivating, so powerful and lifechanging. Well, it certainly has been for me! Looking back on it now, our bodies, minds are amazing at showing us, nudging us (sometimes not so gently), when things need to change. |
